california and bottle cap opened up in 2010 of the former location of the washington square bar and grill and for you to know it was quite a sight to bring in a new restaurant but they have certainly erks seeded all of our expectations. in addition to great cocktails and organic and sustainable food at a affordable price they're a business to help show case the local arts. if you come tuesday through friday you will hear live music in the lounge and musicians that have been playing for decades. bottle cap hangs the work of local artists on the walls. the dining room has works showing every one to two months in rotation. they have hosted numerous charitable events and guest bartender tonight for events and receptions and fundraisers and for singing groups. i want to thank liz the work you're doing in employing folks and allowing your restaurant to be the site for community meetings that we work on difficult but hopefully solvable issues and i want to take the opportunity to thank you and your husband what you're doing with bottle cap. thank you so much. >> thank you so much for the

program, it's a youth baseball program throughout california. we use baseball as the hook to get kids to come together to learn about teamwork, we have a whole can urriculum that's based on the importance of reading, literacy, education, we have a whole violence prevention can urriculum, we have 22,000 kids playing baseball throughout northern california, junior giants baseball, and we have a number of volunteer coaches and commissioners and one of the things that we ask every year our junior giants players to do is to take the peace pledge. it's basically the pledge is i'm a junior giant, i pledge to strike out violence by, and the first line is prevent bullying and respecting my teammates, coaches, family and friends. so at the peer grass roots level where we have coaches working closely with kids we hope to spread a message, we also have an art contest, imagine peace where we honor kids at a ballgame later in the year just so kids can interpret and show their form of how they interpret anti-bullying and peace in this society. you know, it's not perfect, it doesn't always work. i t

successful when the northern california labor councils were the first to actually oppose the vietnam war. with the rise of an organized movement in the gay community in the early 1970's, howard founded the bay area gay liberation inkn 1975, which was to advance lgbt rights here in san francisco. the organization's life was actions for lgbt rights and dramatically increased the san francisco. during that period he formed the committee to defend gays in the military. this was back in the mid-1970's. and he began his work on the boycott in 1975. of course those of us who know a little bit about harvey milk know a little bit about his involvement in that boycott. as howard explains it, they came to harvey milk and howard and asked for their support for this strike and boycott and both harvey and howard endorsed it, which was really key to making the boycott successful because howard, working with harvey milk, used their influence with bartenders and bar owners in the make the boycott successful and it was really the first time where you had that very powerful pairing of the labor movement wi
